New Year’s Eve has been a celebratory family occasion for as long as I can remember. We always tend to gather at my parents house and Poppop was always the life and soul of the party. He would play all silly games we organised and of course would toast the occasion with his favoured tipple. My mum recalled today how he would always fill his plate with party food - she said she could always rely on him to help clear the table. Tomorrow will be another tough event for the family but Poppop will be with us and we will play all the games for him, eat all the food, drink our favourite drinks and link arms to sing Auld Lang Syne as ever when the clock strikes midnight. I want to light this candle in memory of one of the most amazing men I’ve ever known, life is a lot less bright without you - though Maisie is always looking for your star shining bright in the sky.
